Board Certification Information

The American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders provides a path for speech-language pathologists to become Board Certified Specialists in Fluency and Fluency Disorders. This is a two-part process that involves and initial application and candidacy.

My initial application was approved in May 2021 and I am currently a candidate working on my portfolio. Therefore, I ask clients if they would be willing to participate in this process. Participation is voluntary.

If you participate, I may select your case to be part of my portfolio. If so, I would write a case presentation about you which would describe your history, progress in therapy, and my rationale during treatment. This information would be de-identified and submitted to my mentor (a current board-certified specialist) and the American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders.

I am also required to collect videos to demonstrate my clinical skills. Three five- to seven-minute videos are required per case. Identifying information is not included with the videos. The videos would only be shared with my mentor and the American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders.

If you agree to participate, I will send you Release of Information forms through the practice portal.

Thank you for considering participation. I aim to provide the highest level of services possible, and the board certification process helps me to improve my clinical skills through feedback and focused efforts in the area of fluency disorders.
